A Free Seminar by Paul Allison, Ph.D.

Join our founder and President, Paul Allison, for a free, 1-hour seminar on the changing experience of developing statistical software with human programmers vs. AI coding assistants.

Drawing on his own work developing software for Stata and R, Allison compares two experiences a decade apart: working with a human programmer in 2015 and collaborating with AI coding assistants in 2026. He’ll explore the surprising similarities between the two—both requiring clear instructions, careful checking, and occasional disbelief—as well as the important differences. Along the way, he’ll consider what AI does better, where it still falls short, and why human expertise and oversight remain essential, especially when AI is confidently wrong.

*Live attendance is recommended for the best experience. If you can’t join in real time, the recording will be available within 24 hours and can be accessed for four weeks after the seminar.
