A 2-Day Livestream Seminar Taught by Bianca Manago, Ph.D.

Over the years, we’ve gotten many requests for short introductory courses. Today we are proud to unveil our new “mini” course: Stata Basics. In just 8 hours, you will gain the skills to efficiently and effectively use Stata. This will also give you enough background to take other seminars and pursue your training further. We hope you enjoy the course.

This seminar will provide a comprehensive introduction to Stata software. You will learn how to use Stata to prepare, analyze, and present data in a manner that is both accurate and reproducible. By the end of the workshop, your work in Stata should be easier and more efficient.

Specifically, regarding preparation, you will learn how to import data, label variables, label values, name variables, and adjust for data types. You will also learn how to use Stata to calculate and graphically represent descriptive statistics.

Regarding analysis, you will learn how to estimate regression (linear, binary, ordinal, and multinomial) models, store estimates, compare models, and conduct post-estimation. Additionally, you will learn how to turn Stata output into publication-ready graphs and tables.

Finally, you will learn ways to make these processes more efficient using basic introductory-level programming.

With its user-friendly interface and strong analytical and graphical abilities, Stata is the preferred statistical analysis tool for large numbers of data analysts in economics, statistics, sociology, education, and biomedicine, as well as in the business domains of finance, consulting, investment management, and marketing.

Stata is extremely powerful but also easy to learn. Its amazing help files and fully integrated manuals system really set Stata apart. After achieving a basic familiarity with the syntax and interface, Stata can be learned much more quickly than its competitors.

A large community of Stata users also provides a rich network of support as well as thousands of helpful add-on commands that can dramatically extend the software’s capabilities. Overall, Stata is extremely versatile software that is a valuable addition to any analyst’s toolbox.
